Are you mad enough to make a living entirely with Affiliate Marketing?
By ShowMeTheMoney | February 5, 2006
A bit of background for you. I recently walked away from an 18 year Software /Web Development career with the UK operation of a large I.T multinational. The corporate backstabbing, office politics, general incompetence etc etc finally got to me! Basically it went from a great job to be a crappy job, to be a job I came to hate. So 31st August 2005 was the last day of someone else paying my wages. All in all I cant say I was sorry to leave.
I’d been investigating affiliate marketing, Adwords and Adsense for about six months and decided to jump in at the deep end. Since then I have been pretty much doing internet marketing full time 4 days a week and doing a bit of consulting the rest of the time. The setup is within an existing hardware / network company my brother has and I now run the internet side of things.
The first month we made about $500 profit from affiliate programs, this past month (Jan 2006) we did $24,000 worth of sales and made around $12,000. So running at nearly 50% profit. Looking back over the last few months it seems a pretty incredible turn of events. Its been a roller coaster ride and on this blog I hope to share with you a little bit of what we have learned over that period and how we aim to progress this thing.
In my experiance the absolute fastest (if not the easiest) way to make money by marketing other peoples products (affiliate marketing) on the interent is by using Pay Per Click advertising with Yahoo and Google. Of the many affiliate networks out there we have used Clickbank almost exclusively simply for the ease with which you can get up and running.
