Overture conversion tracking sucks!

By ShowMeTheMoney | February 27, 2006

I was talking to a friend of mine who dabbles in affiliate marketing about conversion scripts. These are the little bits of javascript provided by Adwords and Overture that let you track which of your keywords triggered a sale. You need to give these codes to the vendor of the product you are marketing. If they are good venders and value your promotion they will add them to their checkout thank you page. Sounds good and tracking is essential eh?

Well yep tracking is essential but basically the Overture conversion code doesnt work very well. Its figures are a joke. Last night I had 29 sales from overture, overture says I sold.wait for it.2. Its like that all the time. On one of the forums I post to no one even bothers adding Overture conversion anymore its thats crap. I guess over a long period it might tell you what keywords are performing and thats about it. On a day to day basis it dosent work. This is not just me I know numerous people who have the same problem. Google conversion script is a bit better but even thats miles out, it consistently reports less sales than actually show up on my clickbank report.
