How not to use Clickbank

By ShowMeTheMoney | September 15, 2006

Anybody who has done much serious promotion of Clickbank (CB) products soon finds that there are certain niches that perform far better than others. Most of the top performing products on CB, at least from my experience, use Clickbank to collect a membership sign up fee. (In fact if CB ever introduce an ongoing billing facility itd make a lot of vendors and affiliates very happy!).

I am not cutting my own throat by saying movie, music and game download (access) sites are up there among the top performers on CB. Note I have used access in brackets, they dont actually host the movie / mp3s / games. Obviously because hosting and allowing downloading of copyright material is illegal right? Well having a site that lists and links to such material is in my opinion tempting fate. Its just plain common sense.

Having said that you will see dozens of such sites listed in Clickbanks market place. I could make good money right now signing up and promoting these sites by PPC. Go to Google and do a search on a few suitable keywords and you will see loads of affiliates doing just that. I dont promote these sites because I just cant see this situation lasting. More and more file sharing and peer to peer sites are getting shut down. The film and music industry is pursuing these guys ruthlessly. How long is it going to be before we see some of these vendors being forced to close their sites? Dont think they wont come after the affiliates of these guys either. A couple of months back I heard of a CB affiliate who is being sued right now by a one of the largest Corps in the world for running a Google AdWords Ad with a Trademark name. In fact I notice when you are putting ads on AdWords it now specifically says its your responsibility about any keywords you run with!

The bottom line is, if it looks well dodgy, it probably is!
