Day Job Killer Author releases Video

By ShowMeTheMoney | February 4, 2007

Just a quick note. Chris has released a pre launch video about Day Job Killer. In it he gives away a niche market he makes a 6 figure clickbank income from (or at least a niche he use to make six figure from, now that he’s given it away!). At the very least you should check this one out as a master class in how to launch a product. Chris is one smart guy…Anyway here’s the link…

Day Job Killer - More controversial than Projectx ?

By ShowMeTheMoney | February 2, 2007

Back with another video post about Day Job Killer. We do seem to have upset a few people by even mentioning this successor to the ProjectX e-book! You either loved ProjextX or you hated it, there wasnt much in-between and I can confidently say Day Job Killer is going to be even more controversial! But hey, you like controversial, right? :-) By the way I mentioned the wrong date for the launch in the video, the correct date is Tuesday 6th Feb not Sunday. If you want to check out what the sate of play is head on over to the site.

UK hosting sucks for affiliates!

By ShowMeTheMoney | January 31, 2007

Just a quick heads up for UK based marketers. With the pound sterling hovering around the $2 mark at the moment, its never been a better time to buy stuff from the states. Now if you are thinking about getting some UK web hosting or have some hosting space already in the UK then think about junking it fast!

I keep coming across people who think just because you are in the UK you have to host your websites here. Wise up folks, you need to think globally, does it really matter that much where you host, this is the internet guys, location is pretty much irrelevant! There are some amazing deals available in the states for us Brits.

The buying power of the pound means that you can easily cut your hosting costs in half over a UK based deal. I know because I have done it myself! I am just not prepared to pay double the US cost for my hosting and pay VAT on top of that. I feel like I am being ripped off and Ive had enough!

Vote with your feet:-) My fav host at the moment is Hostgator. (and no, thats not an affiliate link!, I just think they are cheap and cheerful!).

Veteran of Internet Marketing Croaks

By ShowMeTheMoney | January 26, 2007

If youve not heard the news already then I can tell you a trusty old friend has finally passed away after a long and lingering malaise…… Yep that veteran of the Internet marketing industry the Yahoo / Overture  search tool is no more. Gone, kaput, fin….. In the last few weeks its been running like an arthritic dog to say the least. I can imagine that a lot of keyword research tool authors have been scrambling to patch, ditch or rewrite their programs. It was a major source of keyword search data. Yahoo is in the process of a pretty comprehensive update to its PPC system which the tool was part of.  Not run your Keyword Research program for awhile? Well nows the time to see if its still working :-) Maybe we should hold a wake…..cheers…

Niche markets - do the basic research first

By ShowMeTheMoney | January 22, 2007

I am constantly amazed at the amount of research data you can pick up on the internet for basically just the expenditure of time. I especially like the stuff the US government produces. Now unlike the UK where we seem to have to pay for everything even if taxpayers money was used to produce the information, in the US  most of this stuff is essentially in the public domain. If you are researching any sort of niche market then its worth spending some time seeing if a US government agency has some freebie information you can make use of. As my favourite internet marketer Ed Dale likes to say, this isnt like work in the real world, your not bricklaying or anything. Your sat on your backside browsing the net, so no excuses on not doing some basic research!  I have been interested in the US recreational fishing and hunting market for a few weeks. The fishing market in particular is huge (its still the most popular outdoor hobby in the US) and they spend vast amounts on equipment and other related products and services. So obviously an interesting market to consider when looking to develop products of your own or in finding affiliate products to promote. Head on over to the snappily titled (!) 2001 survey of fishing, hunting and wildlife associated related recreation for a detailed market breakdown.

The perils of affiliate marketing from home!

By ShowMeTheMoney | January 18, 2007

Its around 10.45 and I am sat typing my next masterplan :-) on my laptop in my little office. Suddenly there is an almighty bang from across the road and then another and two puffs of smoke rise into the air in the distance. Its like someone has just fired a couple of cannon. The power in the house goes off. In fact the power for about a half mile area goes off. The wind has brought down the high voltage cables. I have no power again in the house until  9.30pm that evening. My laptop goes flat within half an hour and there is no internet as there is no power to the router.

Ok so my brother comes over at lunch time as he is doing a job nearby. Lets see, what shall we do as there is no power to do any computer work?

Hmm lets fix that annoying leak in the bathroom. There has been  a drip from the fresh water feed to the toilet for about three days and its getting worse. He starts to tighten the joint up but the more he tightens the worse it gets. Its now slightly spraying from the pipe. Ok lets turn the water off and fix it properly. Whoops. you know the plumber broke the stop cock when he did the bathroom job about three years agokeep meaning to sort it out but you know how it is..well yes but its not completely bust is itI mean you can turn it down to a trickle right err actually no.Ok so we have a slight problem we have a burst pipe and we cant turn the water off at the mains, not even err like a little bit..

So let me recap for you so far, remember folks  I am just warming up here. I have no power to the house, I have a pipe spraying water in the bathroom and I cant shut the water off.

I also have a dentist appointment for 3.30pm. I had some root canal work done last week and its been giving me hell ever since. Something is obviously not right and I need it sorted before weekend. I positively cant not go, if you know what a dying nerve in you tooth feels like then you know why the house could get blow down by a  mini tornado and it wouldnt stop me getting my tooth fixed. Whoopsdid I say mini tornado?

Queue the 80 Mph wind gusts. In the space of ten minutes the wind goes totally berserk. Its like something out of that film twister! I knew it was getting bad when some horses came pounding up the track outside the house and took off up the main road rider less! The wind was so bad they were spooked and had managed to get out of their field. Two minutes later the security guard from the nearby factory is  knocking at my door, he asks if I know who the horses belong to, a least I think thats what he says as the wind is howling like a frigging banshee. Unbeknown to him hes just had a miraculous near death experience! As I  start to open my mouth to answer, half the coping stones are blown off the roof 30 foot above and land about two feet behind him. One embeds itself six inches into the lawn! These are not namby pamby slates, these are three foot long solid slabs. He does not look happy. In fact he looks a bit peeky! He says, f*cking hell, what the f**k was that, ## **ing, *** etc maybe he will get religion, he certainly needs a change of underwear!

Around the back the wind takes out another ridge of coping stones and smashes the greenhouse. Next doors fence looses a few full sized panels and the stables up the track loses half a roof and the side of the barn! Nice!

No power, raging water leak, wrecked roof, smashed greenhouse, unmissable dentist appointment. Roll on Friday 13th

Buck and Brock, stop, I cant take anymore… argh…

By ShowMeTheMoney | January 17, 2007

Is any internet marketer on the planet safe from email pushing Pipeline Profits? Just today I have had four emails about the thing from different gurus pushing it to their lists. I really cant remember when a launch has been pushed so agressiveley by the top marketers. Dont get me wrong it looks a great product and the information we have seen on it so far looks extremely interesting. Its just that I cant take any more email about it! Its so god damn relentless its putting me off the thing. Can a marketing campaign get so overbearing it turns people off? Well I think the answer amazingly enough is YES! All I can say is thank God the thing is actually on sale on Thursday and I dont have to hear anything more about it for awhile.

For a bit of fresh air and a sometimes brutally honest look at the whole Internet marketing industry I can recommend Eric’s Tips as a great read. Eric describes himself as the Internet Marketings non-Guru :-)

Niche Research with sidekiq

By ShowMeTheMoney | January 11, 2007

An interesting new addition to the search engine field is sidekiq. Its focus seems to be on the social networking / video sites ie web 2.0 stuff so its interesting to play around with from the perspective of doing some market research for niches with content on those type of sites.
